DIVA FAVSTINA

DIVA FAUSTINA and DIVA AUGUSTA FAUSTINA.-After the death of Faustina sen. in the third year of her husband 's reign, Antoninus Pius caused several coins, in each metal, to be struck, on which, by the title DIVA, which precedes her name, the ceremony of her apotheosis is more or less directly recalled to mind.  In the same spirit of flattery this princess was successively compared to almost all the goddesses, and typified on coins accordingly. - See FAUSTINA ANTONINI.
